In December 2024, the Data Curation Network became a Network member of the World Data System (WDS). 🎉 The WDS, through the International Program Office (IPO) and International Technology Office (ITO), connects generalist, disciplinary, and institutional repositories, researchers, and organizations around the world, all committed to ensuring FAIR data. Through its resources, such as metadata crosswalks, technical roadmaps, and global events like the SciDataCon conference, WDS helps its members enhance their data stewardship practices.

For the DCN, this membership is a way to amplify our work: connecting with repositories across disciplines and borders, exchanging ideas, and shaping the future of data curation. It’s a way to bring international best practices home and keep our community aligned with the latest developments in data management– all while sharing our resources and expertise to our colleagues globally.

In the near term, we’re looking forward to deepening our connections with WDS members, exploring joint opportunities, and, yes, showing up at SciDataCon 2025!, to share what we’ve learned. We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to collaborating with the WDS community to advocate for and strengthen research data curation practices.
