Library Liaison, School of Public Health | University of Minnesota
Shanda received her Master’s Degree in Public Health and was a research coordinator at the UMN before taking on a new career in the University Libraries. In addition to acting as the Public Health Librarian, she is the human subjects curator for the Data Repository at the University of Minnesota (DRUM). The submission of human subjects data to DRUM is still rare at this time, so Shanda consults in other ways: by reviewing data management plans for researchers who are submitting grants, assessing DRUM submissions for proper IRB data sharing language, and revising restrictive consent forms. Her previous research was often qualitative, and she teaches about data management and sharing qualitative research. She is both a human subjects and qualitative data curator for the DCN.
