Over the course of many months, members of the Data Curation Network have revised the CURATE(D) workflow, and are delighted to share it with everyone! The revised workflow now includes:

  • A preamble, that includes information about how to use the CURATE(D) steps, in particular the iterative nature of curation and prompting questions to consider whether data should be shared.
  • Key ethical considerations at each step
  • Standardized formatting and more inclusive language, to expand the applicability of the workflow beyond data curators to include data creators.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of this work, including but not limited to: Members of the Refining the Standard Curation Protocol, members of the Education Committee, members of the Racial Justice Working Group, and many others.

The original version of the CURATE(D) Workflow, created at the 2018 All Hands Meeting, has been archived in the University of Minnesota institutional repository: https://hdl.handle.net/11299/226891
