DCN-34: Seismograms of earthquake pairs in the injection experiment, a tabular earth sciences dataset, was submitted to the DCN by Rachel Woodbrook and curated by Wendy Kozlowski.

Wendy’s recommendations for this dataset focused primarily on improving documentation, and due to Wendy’s expertise major curation actions were taken (files updated/added, metadata edited/added).

DCN-51: Individual-Based-Model used in “Population context matters: predicting effects of metabolic stress mediated by food availability and predation with an agent- and energy budget-based model”, a fisheries and wildlife sciences code dataset, was submitted to the DCN by Lisa Johnston and curated by Ashley Hetrick.

Lisa submitted this dataset looking for technical expertise, and Ashley was the best fit and readily available. Due to Ashley’s expertise, essential curation actions were taken (error was corrected). Ashley’s review of this dataset found multiple errors in the code, and her recommendations included updating the documentation and the code to remedy these errors. The data author accepted all of Ashley’s recommendations.

DCN-56: Extension distribution for DNA confined in a nanochannel near the Odijk regime, a materials science and engineering code dataset, was submitted to the DCN by Valerie Collins and curated by Susan Borda.

Valerie submitted this dataset looking for technical expertise and Susan was a great fit in both data type and domain. Due to Susan’s expertise, major curation actions were taken (files updated/added, metadata edited/added). Susan’s recommendations included updating documentation to better contextualize the dataset, and including a missing file referenced by the other files in the dataset. All of Susan’s recommendations were accepted by the author.

The purpose of this Dataset Digest series of blog posts is to keep our followers informed and up to date on the curation activities of the DCN! These weekly updates will summarize datasets that have been curated by the network. Once a dataset is “finalized” (curation is complete, any necessary updates or changes have been made, and the dataset has been made publicly available via the local partner repository) we add it to our website and include it in our weekly digest. Thank you for following our progress!
