We are pleased to announce two new sustaining members: the University of Virginia (UVA) and the University of New Mexico (UNM). We are currently onboarding the new curators from these institutions– check in on our Curator Gallery in a few weeks to see some new faces!
Ricky Patterson will serve on the DCN Governance Board as the UVA representative. Ricky is the Director of Research Data Services & Social, Natural, and Engineering Sciences at UVA Library. Ricky also worked for several decades as a research astronomer.
We believe participation in DCN will greatly enhance our research data services, expand our network and help us engage more intentionally with a community of practice, and in general increase the Library’s value as a partner and collaborator in the research enterprise.
Mira Waller, AUL for Research & Learning Services, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at UVA
Jon Wheeler will serve on the DCN Governance Board as the UNM representative while Karl Benedict is on sabbatical. Jon is the Data Curation Librarian at the UNM University Libraries. In this capacity, Jon supports the development of research data ingest, packaging and archiving workflows. Karl is the Director of Research Data Services within the libraries, and also serves as Director of University Libraries IT.
We are excited about engaging through the DCN with a growing network of professionals dedicated to accelerating best practices in data management and data sharing. Participation in the DCN represents a unique opportunity to broaden the scope of data curation expertise available to our researchers across disciplines.
Leo Lo, Dean of the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences, University of New Mexico.
